About Sophia J. Wien, M.A., Drs.
Sophia Wien, M.A., Drs. is a sociologist, psychotherapist and independent researcher born in the Netherlands and educated
in the Netherlands and the United States. She received graduate degrees in Sociology of the Family and Social Wellbeing, Social Psychiatry and Criminology of the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands (1976) and studied with Prof. Dr. C.I. Dessaur, also known as the brilliant writer Andreas Burnier.
The education in Sociology at the Radboud University in general (NVAO) has been the best in Holland for years with a formal and extra quality mark "excellent". The title Drs. represents the Dutch degree of Doctorandus.
Sophia worked as a Scientific Researcher at the Institute for Applied Sociology in Nijmegen before she acquired Certifications in Psychodrama and Group Psychotherapy from the Institute for Psychotherapy in Arnhem, the Netherlands, founded by Adeline Salome-Finkelstein.
Before she moved to Amsterdam, the Netherlands to receive training in Bio-energetics she worked for seven years in a clinic for the criminally insane in Nijmegen.
In 1985 Sophia moved from Amsterdam to New York City were she entered a three year, full-time, post graduate education and clinical practice in psychotherapy at the Blanton Peale Graduate Institute of the Institutes of Religion and Health (chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York) and received a certification in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, as well as the Ann Ulinov Award for outstanding scholarship for the year 1990.
The Blanton-Peale Institute is non-sectarian and non-denominational, founded by psychiatrist Smiley Blanton, M.D. and Reverend Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, author of many works, among them The Power of Positive Thinking. Sophia worked at the Blanton-Peale Counseling Center for six years, before she went into private practice (1991) in New York City and Port Washington, Long Island.
In addition Sophia received extensive postgraduate training in Imago Relationship Therapy (certified in 1992) and holds the status of Advanced Clinician at the Imago Relationships International Institute in New York, founded by Helen LaKelly Hunt, Ph.D. and Harville Hendrix, Ph.D.
The book Tyrants Among Us is the culmination of Sophia’s lifelong training, research, experience and - last but not least - awakening, regarding identical features ruling three levels of global societies: family, dynasty (group) and nation.
